On 28 September 1945, one of the most insightful poets and philosophers of Greek song was born. In a conversation we once had with him, he said the following:
“Greek society is hollow at its foundations; it lacks perspective. These small countries within globalization end up culturally self-abolishing. What emerges are mostly reflexes of the market. We live in Moneyland rather than in Greece, and this makes it extremely difficult for songwriters to find raw material and create something of real value. It is a difficult turning point—not only for Greece, but for humanity as a whole—with the climate crisis and extreme historical phenomena.”
The meeting point for tonight’s journey: 80 years with Manolis Rasoulis.
