Today, we remember an important composer and thinker who passed away recently and whose absence is deeply felt. A composer with substantial studies and a remarkable body of work, Michalis Grigoriou created dozens of compositions, including works for orchestra; for choir and soloists; chamber music; piano works; song cycles; pieces for synthesiser; as well as music for film and theatre.
His relationship with poetic language is a defining feature of his oeuvre, as most of his song cycles are based on texts by major poets of the post-war generation, such as Aris Alexandrou (Unsent Letters), Manolis Anagnostakis (Love Is Fear), Takis Sinopoulos (Odysseus in the River), and Tasos Livaditis (A Dark Act).
