Mia Papaefthymiou reports on the atmosphere of Eurovision 2026 from Vienna | 13 May 2026

This year’s Eurovision Song Contest 2026 has transformed Vienna into a multicultural hub of music, tourism, and international attention, with thousands of visitors flooding the city over the past few days.

Mia Papaefthymiou, Secretary of the Federation of Greek Associations of Austria, speaking on the program “Greece in the World” with Giorgos Dionysopoulos, described the unique atmosphere currently prevailing in the Austrian capital.

As she noted, everyday life in the city has been noticeably affected, as dozens of languages can be heard in the streets, while cafés, squares, and public spaces are filled with visitors and fans of the contest. At the same time, she emphasized that the parallel events are creating a vibrant sense of an international celebration.

Ms. Papaefthymiou also referred to the Greek participation, stressing that Greeks of the diaspora are following the progress of the Greek delegation with great interest and are experiencing Greece’s presence in a competition with such wide international appeal with emotion and pride.
