The experienced Ikarian radio operator, poet and writer Charalambos N. Chatzinakis is a guest of Antonis Karagiannakis on the program “Fair Winds and Following Seas”, on Voice of Greece.
Charalambos Chatzinakis was born on 10 February, his name day, which also marks the anniversary of the death of the poet of the sea, Nikos Kavvadias.
He speaks about his turn to poetry, his ten years at sea, his homeland of Ikaria and the village of Karavostamo, and how several of his poems were set to music by Greek singer-songwriters.
Finally, he reads some of his poems on air, including “Viraroume” (“Weigh Anchor”) and “Kanenas” (“No One”) from his new poetry collection “Hellas, Bitter Smiles.”
