Thanasis Skordas, General Director of the Hellenic Union of Tugboat, Salvage, Anti-Pollution and Offshore Support Vessel Owners, is the guest of Antonis Karagiannakis on this episode of “Fair Winds and Following Seas– Saturday Shift”.
The Union was founded in 1980 in Piraeus and has since steadily grown, becoming the most trusted representative body for tug and salvage shipowners in Greece.
Mr. Skordas, who has held the position of General Director since October 2020, offers listeners a guided look into the world of tugboats and salvage vessels. He outlines the Union’s evolution, its contribution to the maritime sector, and the services it provides.
Given the central role of shipping in Greek culture and identity, he also shares his belief that young people considering a professional future at sea will find excellent prospects and promising career opportunities in the maritime industry.
