Participation Our Network of websites provides opportunities for interaction and posting of user opinions, especially through ERT’s Social Media Networks (Facebook & Twitter).
- ERT strongly encourages public debate. However, all users should exhibit tolerant, courteous, and respectful behavior.
- ERT does not support the views contained in the comments. ERT seeks to record the public’s views representatively on a range of issues of public interest in its broadcasts on television, radio, and the Internet, but these public comments reflect the personal views of those who choose to comment.
- By submitting a comment or posting content, you grant a royalty-free unlimited license to anyone to: (A) use, communicate, and redistribute (B) or assign the same rights to any third party. If in this context, you provide ERT with any material (text, photo, video, audio), you confirm and guarantee that it is your original work and that it does not constitute a violation of any copyright law.
- All content is published at the sole discretion of ERT. Comments or content you provide may be edited or removed or not published in whole or in part if: (A) They are false, misleading, or in violation of the law, including libel, slander, defamation, contempt of court, as well as matters relating to privacy, discrimination, harassment, and racism. (B) They infringe intellectual property rights. (C) They express prejudice against any person or group based on race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual preference, religion, disability, mental illness, or marital or occupational status. (D) They have content that is abusive, offensive, hateful, violent, threatening, harassing, obscene, vulgar, pornographic, indecent, or intentionally provocative to other users. (E) They are inappropriate, off-topic, malicious or in violation of the rules. (F) They invade the privacy of individuals, including the provision of personal information (such as an email address, home address or telephone number). (G) They advertise, promote, service, person, organization, or unduly defame a business, product, service, person, or organization, including inappropriate or gratuitous references to a business or product. (H) They are published in order to attract customers.
- Further action may also be taken by ERT for serious or systematic violations of these Terms of Use, including removal or banning from the corresponding website or suspension of interaction on a website.
- You must not use your articles, comments or other posts to impersonate any person, group or entity, or to misrepresent your association with any person, group or entity.
- You agree not to disrupt, modify or interfere with our Network of websites or their associated software, hardware and/or servers in any way, and you agree not to interfere with the use of our Network.
- You agree not to post any content that contains viruses, corrupted files or any other similar software or programs that may adversely affect the operation of our Network of websites or any feature of our Network.
- You further agree not to modify or in any way interfere with the content on the network.
- You may be held legally responsible for the material you submit to our Network of sites or a social media platform such as Facebook. ERT reserves the right to fully cooperate with any law enforcement authority (in any jurisdiction) regarding material that may violate applicable law, including a request to disclose your identity or other information.
- ERT reserves the right to inform the Internet Service Provider if you violate any of the Terms of Use and you consent to the disclosure of your personal information.
- Children’s interaction should be supervised by an adult.
Registration To offer content, you may be asked to register on our Website Network.
- To register, you may be asked to select a password, username and/or other registration information (Registration Information). You agree that all registration information provided by you shall be accurate. If any details change, you shall need to update them using the appropriate mechanism.
- Certain usernames and images associated with your profile may not be acceptable to ERT, on the grounds that they are offensive, misleading, promote political or religious issues, or infringe copyrights or trademarks. ERT may refuse to accept any username or user image at its sole discretion.
- ERT reserves the right to refuse to register any individual or group if it considers them to be likely to be malicious, deliberately provocative, violating anti-discrimination laws, or otherwise unsuitable for inclusion in the Network.
- ERT may refuse to register any individual or group at its sole discretion. Similarly, ERT reserves the right to suspend or terminate the registration of any individual or group at its sole discretion.
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your registration information. You must not allow others to use your registration information.
- You are responsible for all use and activity on your account, including use of the account by any person using your registration information, with or without permission, or accessing any computer on which your account is maintained.
- If you have reason to believe that your account is no longer secure (for example, in case of unauthorized use), you should immediately change your password using our Website Network notification mechanism.
- Any personal information provided to ERT during the registration process is treated in accordance with the law and ERT’s privacy policy.
- ERT may enter your name next to your comment. ERT advises you to be careful about disclosing any other personal data about yourself when you post content of any kind on its websites.
- You acknowledge that your post may possibly be read and accessed by users of our network of websites who are not registered users.

- ERT bears no responsibility in the event that information published on its websites is not confirmed.
- ERT provides no guarantees that its Website Network shall be provided on an uninterrupted basis, that your access shall be uninterrupted or that the material shall be free of viruses or defects that may damage your computer. You acknowledge that you should always take your own precautions in terms of virus checking and computer security.
- ERT shall not be liable for any losses, claims or DAMAGES, including special (indirect or consequential) damages, loss of income or loss of data resulting from the use of its Network of websites.
Termination or suspension of access to the Network
- ERT has the right to terminate and/or suspend your ability to access its network of websites (or any part thereof), for any – or no – reason, or may block your use of the network, with or without providing notice to you.
- You agree to having no rights to the Network and that ERT shall bear no responsibility towards you if your ability to access the Network is interrupted or terminated.
User-Generated Content ERT creates opportunities for its audience and communities interested in sharing their stories, opinions and experiences (hereinafter UGC) on its website. ERT encourages UGC that reflects a diversity of experiences, beliefs, cultures, and languages. It provides its online services and interacts with users of its online services, in line with its strategic plan to inspire all Greeks to contribute to an inclusive society.
Scope of Application These guidelines apply to:
- UGC hosted on ERT’s website, ert.gr.
- UGC on ERT’s websites and social media (such as Facebook, YouTube, Twitter).
- To content (text, sound, images, animation, photos, video) produced by the public and made available to ERT for publication on its website.
- To comments submitted to blogs, discussion forums, messages, and live chats hosted by ERT’s websites.
- To comments by user groups regarding messages, blogs, profiles and posts about events hosted on ERT’s websites.
Management ERT shall have content coordinators to manage each website featuring UGC. The coordinator is responsible for ensuring sound management by the principles set out in these guidelines. UGC is clearly distinguishable from the content generated by ERT. UGC is not published until the moderator has checked and approved that it is suitable for publication. UGC shall not unjustifiably promote brands, products or events, nor shall UGC promote them via references to links.
Children and Young People UGC contributions made by children should be supervised by an adult. ERT shall take care when providing online services likely to appeal to children and young people (under the age of 18) to reduce risk of exposure to inappropriate content or contact.
Questions, Comments and Complaints Complaints and grievances shall be handled by the online content manager.
Registration Each contributor shall be required to register as a UGC member.
Terms of Use Members of UGC programs are required to state that they have read and agree to the Terms of Use of the Website when registering or accessing it using a third-party account.
Personal Data Protection ERT S.A. fully complies with Regulation (EU) 2016/679 on the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and on the free movement of such data, and repealing Directive 95/46/EC (General Data Protection Regulation).
