Hellenes Everywhere, with Thanasis Houpis | 10.03.22

Dr. Ioannis Salavrakos, Lecturer at the Department of Turkish & Contemporary Asian Studies of the National & Kapodistrian University of Athens & Schools of the Armed Forces of Greece, was a guest on ERT’s Radio “Voice of Greece”, on the broadcasting program “Hellenes everywhere”, with Thanasis Choupis: “Turkey has tried hard to prevent the lifting of the US embargo on arms sales to the Republic of Cyprus… At the same time, they are objectively incapable of implementing the military and economical threats they make about the Aegean Sea… As far as the Cyprus problem is concerned, the fact that they maintain occupying troops in Cyprus does not mean that they can do whatever they want on the island… And if Turkey carries out the threat to increase the occupying army, they will test the reflexes of other, strong powers in the wider region… The defense agreements between Greece and Cyprus and the joint exercises of their armed forces with those of powerful countries, together with the whole of international developments, force the international community to see the Cyprus problem in its true dimension: As a matter of invasion, occupation and border change!!…”.
