Nautical tales from the seafarers of Andros | 07.10.2023, 08:00

Author Ioulia Zannaki-Lialiou, from the village of Vourkoti, Andros, joined the broadcasting program on Saturday, October 7, 2023, at 8:00 Greek time, on the Voice of Greece and the broadcasting program “Fair Winds and Following Seas – Weekend shift”, curated and presented by Antonis Karagiannakis.

She talks about her beloved Andros, her unforgettable childhood years on the island, about the sea, and seafaring (as she was born into a seafaring family). She has paid attention to and had had firsthand experience of the “laws” governing small island seafaring communities, and tells us all about her experiences. She also talks about her new book entitled “Seamen” – LOST AT SEA – IGNORED ON LAND by Gutenberg Publications.

All the seafaring recollections of her father, her mother – a seafarer’s wife, her brothers and cousins and all the other people she knew who worked at sea and brought with them many stories, experiences, feelings, adventures, and memories that are recorded in this gem of a book.
