VoG’s Poet of the Week: Thanos Gogos | 23-29 October 2023

Each weekly episode is a tribute to a contemporary poet from Greece or the Greek Diaspora.

The poets recite their poems themselves, along with an original live music background.

The Poet of the Week 23-29 October 2023 is Thanos Gogos

Thanos Gogos was born in Larissa in 1985. He is a poet, publisher, organizer and an activist for writers’ rights. He is the founder of publishing house Thraka, the main editor of Thraka Magazine, one of the partners of the international literary residencies project Ulysses Shelter, and the co-founder and director of the international Thessalian Poetry Festival (Πανθεσσαλικό Φεστιβάλ Ποίησης). 
He has published three poetry collections: Frontier Playground (Farfulas, 2013), Glasgow (Thraka, 2014), and Dakar (Melani, 2020). His poems have been published in various printed and online magazines, and have been translated into over fifteen languages. His book Glasgow was translated into Croatian and published by Sandorf in 2021.
His poetry appeared in the New Voices of Greece anthology, published by the Hellenic Foundation of Culture, and presented in the 67th Frankfurt Book Fair. His poems were included in many anthologies and he presented his work in numerous festivals and book fairs in Greece and abroad. He is a board member at the Poets’ Circle and a member of the Greek PEN Centre.
