SCHEDULE VOICE OF GREECE

The historical series of short stories by G. Xenopoulos on the show “Narratives” | Premiere: 12 Oct. 2024, 17:00

The historical series of children’s short stories “The Formation of Children” by Grigoris Xenopoulos, a unique periodical for children that dominated the field of Greek children’s literature for nearly seven decades (1894 – 1969), begins its broadcasts on “Voice of Greece,” the global radio station of ERT.

Starting Saturday, 12.10.2024, and every Saturday at 17:00 Athens time on the show “Narratives – Stories and Tales for Small and Big Children,” we narrate stories from the reissue of the legendary series, featuring the wonderful retro artistic illustrations by the “Adelphoi Vlassi” publishing house, accompanied by musical compositions from works by Greek composers of the Ionian School!

“Little Great Alexander,” “The Brave Achilles,” “Mr. Spourgitakis,” “The Little Shepherds,” “My Good Book,” “Around the World of Children,” “The Carver,” and other short stories present timeless messages and values written for Greek children of all ages by a great author who loved children and wrote invaluable pages for them.

On Saturday, October 12, at 17:00 Athens time, the short story “Little Alexander the Great” will be presented.

“Tarata-tam, tarata-tam! The army is ready, everyone is in position, and the war begins. What war? Why, the one organized by little Alekos, the leader of the army, eager to resemble the famous Alexander the Great! A gang of excited children blindly follows the orders of their leader until the enemy comes close enough. What will be the outcome of this war?..” (from the book’s back cover description).

Produced and presented by Maria Karagiannaki-Iona
Broadcast: Saturday 12 October 2024 -and every Saturday- at 18:00 Athens time
