On Sunday, December 1st, 2024, on the show “Greeks Around the World – Greece in Denmark” at 10:00 am Athens time, Elina Stamatatou presents a tribute to the theatrical group of the Greek Community of Denmark.
The theatrical group of the Greek Community of Denmark (GCD) was founded in 2023 through an initiative by the Community’s Board of Directors. In February 2024, it staged its first production, “In Times of War”, a musical-theatrical protest that was warmly received. Since then, it has been actively organizing workshops, open presentations, and preparing its second production, scheduled for May 2025.
The group offers Greeks in Denmark the opportunity to come together and collaborate creatively through theater and its techniques.
Participants discussing the theatrical group include:
- Amalia Giannakopoulou – Resident of Denmark for 11 years, a graduate of the University of Copenhagen’s Environmental & Natural Resource Economics program, and a researcher.
- Katerina Karachaliou – A graduate of the University of Athens’ Department of Theatre Studies and the “Archi” Drama School of Nelli Karra. Active in various forms of theater since 2010 in Greece and abroad. In Lisbon, she served on the Board of Lisbon Players, and in Copenhagen, she is a founding member and theatrical facilitator of the GCD theatrical group. She also serves as Vice President of the Greek Community of Denmark.
- Panos Papazoglou – Environmentalist and founding member of the GCD amateur theatrical group.
