Aikido: the art of peace | 23.02.2025, 11:00

Aikido isn’t just about technique. It’s about balance, awareness, and using energy wisely. It teaches us that force isn’t always the answer-sometimes, the best way forward is to move with the challenge rather than against it.

Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of Aikido, once said: “Aikido is not a technique to fight with or defeat an enemy. It is a way to reconcile the world and make human beings one family”. And honestly, in today’s world, we could all use a little more of that philosophy!

Tune in this Sunday, February 22, at 11:00 am to Infinitely Curious, the English-language program of ERT and Voice of Greece with Katerina Batzaki and listen to Spyros Boviatsos, a dedicated Aikido instructor and martial artist with deep roots in the philosophy of Budo, talking about his journey, his training under world-class instructors, and what keeps him hooked on Aikido after years of practice.

Hear Jenny Flower, a 6th-degree black belt and one of the leading Aikido instructors in Greece. She’s trained with some of the best in the world, spent time as an Uchideshi (live-in student), and even integrates Zen philosophy into her practice.

Produced and presented by Katerina Batzaki
