Nikos Spanos visits “Our Town” | 19 May 2025, 22:00

On Monday, May 19, from 22:00 to 23:00 Athens time (with a repeat on Tuesday, May 20, from 04:00 to 05:00), the program “Our Town” will feature Nikos Spanos as part of the tribute “Greek Artists in Vienna.”

The distinguished performer — a countertenor — will talk about his significant performances in the classical repertoire, as well as his collaborations with many internationally renowned composers throughout his notable career.

There will be references to his appearances at major theaters, his relationship with Greece, and his unique collaborations there. Nikos Spanos will also discuss the vocal ensemble “Trisevgeni Kalokyri,” which he founded and directs.

The program will also highlight the honors he has received, including the award from the Association of Greek Theater and Music Critics, where in 2002 he was named “Best New Singer of the Year” for his performance in the role of Arsamenes (Xerxes).

His carefully selected participations in major festivals, both in Greece and abroad, have inspired prestigious publications such as The Washington Post and Opera International to write glowing reviews.

The guest will bring to life the musical scene in Vienna, speak about the Greek community there, the art venues, and his daily creative life. Excerpts from his collaborations will also be featured.
