On Sunday, 1 November 2026, at 12:00 Athens time, Voice of Greece’s “Our Town” presents a tribute to Frans de Clercq and the band Kosmokrators.
Four outstanding musicians translate Greek rebetiko and laiko songs into several languages and perform them on stage in their own distinctive, entertaining style. Based primarily in Brussels, they bring energy to the Greek community’s cultural life and perform further afield, winning over audiences wherever they go.
Musician and translator Frans de Clercq is the driving force behind the band and an active presence in Brussels’ cultural life, with ties to Amsterdam as well. At Art Base, his music venue in Brussels, he hosts Greek artists and keeps the local Greek community connected to Greece. Through music and translation, he brings together people, groups of friends, and prominent figures from across the city, creating opportunities for conversation and cultural exchange.
Kosmokrators features Frans de Clercq (bouzouki, vocals), Dimi Dumortier (percussion, vocals), Karsten de Vilder (guitar, vocals), and Andreas Mantzaris (piano).
A program exploring distinctive musical journeys and beloved songs that transcend borders and languages.
In the coming weeks, “Our Town” will continue its conversations with Greeks living and creating in Belgium, the Netherlands, and other countries.
