On Monday, May 26, from 22:00 to 23:00 (Athens time), the program “Our Town” will welcome the distinguished composer Giorgos Kompogiannis.
In an intimate studio conversation with Themis Rodamitis, Kompogiannis will reflect on his creative journey, spanning his work as a songwriter and his compositions for the theater.
He will highlight his musical settings of beloved Greek poets such as Skaribas, Sarantaris, Sahtouris, and Leonartis, among others. The program will also feature a special focus on his compositions for over thirty theatrical productions, including the award-winning performance in Seville—selected from 400 entries—in connection with the Barcelona Olympic Games. This production subsequently toured prestigious theaters throughout Greece and major cities worldwide.
Singer-songwriter Dimitris Zervoudakis will join the discussion, and the program will feature songs from Kompogiannis’s notable works, including “Songs of Law and Order” (based on the poetry of Fontas Ladis) and “Secret Thread” (inspired by Brecht, Mayakovsky, Dante, Laskaratou, Sahtouris, and others).
Kompogiannis will also speak about social issues that inspire him, his engagement with the arts, his travels and favorite cities, and his hometown of Nea Ionia, Magnesia, which provided his earliest creative impulses.
