The daily radio show “The Elves of Tradition” with Maria Koutsimpiri, airing weekdays from 15:00 to 16:00 (Athens time) on Voice of Greece and ERT Larissa, presents a special three-part tribute to the rich musical heritage of Thessaly, with a focus on Trikala and Larissa.

On Friday, 11 July, the tribute continues with a live edition of “The Elves of Tradition” from the ERT Larissa studio in Trikala, broadcast at 15:00. Featured are rising musicians from the region: Thanasis Axenopoulos (violin, vocals), Giorgos Koltsidas (clarinet), Periklis Zisis (lute), and Despina Kara (vocals).
The tribute concludes on Monday, 14 July, at 15:00, with a final live broadcast from the ERT Larissa studio, featuring: Kostas Dedousis (clarinet), Lefteris Gallos (violin), Kostas Papadimitriou (lute, vocals), and Apostolos Mavrantzas (percussion).
This three-part series aims to preserve and celebrate the musical traditions of Thessaly, while highlighting the passing of knowledge between generations. It also reflects the strong collaboration between Voice of Greece and regional ERT stations, using local studios and staff to connect the Greek diaspora with their cultural roots.
At the same time, the events serve as a tribute to the iconic musicians Gouziotis and Paraskevas, ensuring their legacy is properly recorded and offering audiences in Trikala a renewed chance to engage with their art — all within the cultural setting of the Tsitsanis Museum, a key hub for musical heritage in the region.
