Elias Demian and Svetoslav Danchev on Shortsea Shipping and the Green Transition | 11 Oct. 2025, 08:00

This Saturday, 11 October 2025, at 08:00 Athens time, the program “Fair Winds and Following Seas – Saturday Shift” on Voice of Greece hosts Elias Demian, Head of the Department of Environmental Economics, and Svetoslav Danchev, Head of Macroeconomic Analysis and Policy – both from the Foundation for Economic & Industrial Research (IOBE).

The discussion focuses on the recent study conducted and presented by IOBE on behalf of the Hellenic Shortsea Shipowners Association (EENMA), titled “Shortsea Shipping – Trends, Challenges and Impact on the Greek Economy.” The study highlights the economic contribution of the shortsea shipping sector to the Greek economy, as well as the major challenges it faces in relation to the green transition.

The program further explores key findings of IOBE’s research on shortsea shipping today, examining current trends, challenges, and the broader implications of maritime activity for the green transition, the blue economy, and Greece’s overall economic landscape.
