On Saturday, 23 August 2025, at 08.00 Athens time, Chief Engineer Michalis Triantafyllou is the guest of Antonis Karagiannakis on the show “Fair Winds and Following Seas– Saturday Shift” on Voice of Greece.
Chief Engineer Michalis Triantafyllou has now dedicated himself to writing short stories and books. After a long seafaring career, he draws on his experiences, knowledge, and emotions in his storytelling.
In his own unique way, he shares stories and also reads from his latest book, Apo Alati kai Atsali – Naftika Diigimata (From Salt and Steel – Nautical Stories), published by Nea Diastasi.
He notably says: “I was born in Ioannina, to parents originally from Lesvos. My father, a graduate of ‘Prometheus’, worked at the Public Power Corporation and wanted me to go to sea, while my mother wanted me to become a doctor. In the end, my father’s wish prevailed. The first spark ignited in Santorini, where we lived for a few years. I was captivated by engines, the sea, voyages, ports, and ships.”
A unique radio journey on Voice of Greece and the show “Fair Winds and Following Seas”, not to be missed.
