On the Tuesday, 10 March 2026 broadcast, we discovered Livadi on Mount Olympus, a large historic village of the Larissa region, located on the borders with Pieria and Kozani. It is a historic settlement built on Mount Titaros, the homeland of the Filiki Eteria member Georgakis Olympios, with a history stretching back centuries and offering magnificent views of the peaks of Mount Olympus.
A Vlach-speaking community closely connected with livestock farming, the village has managed to remain vibrant to this day, with more than two thousand permanent residents and both primary and secondary schools. It is also a place full of experiences for lovers of nature and adventure.
Our guides to their homeland were Livadites: Lazaros Chatzis, a tourism professional; Antonis Bisbas, Professor of Mathematics at the University of Western Macedonia and former municipal official; Dionysis Chatzimichalis, journalist at ERT; and Evanthia Lappa, a member of the diaspora living in Melbourne.
