The Social and Political Dimension of Christ’s Teaching with Professor Efstathios Lianos Liantis | 08 Apr. 2026

Professor Efstathios Lianos Liantis, Vice President of the Department of Social Theology and Religious Studies at the School of Theology of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, examines the deeply subversive dimension of Christ’s teaching—one that directly challenged the established order and power structures of its time, proposing a different path: a society grounded in love, acceptance, and equality.

At the heart of the discussion are the human relationships and figures surrounding Christ—from the Samaritan woman and the tax collectors to His disciples, ordinary and “unrefined” individuals such as Peter, Thomas, and Judas, as well as Mary Magdalene—approached through a more evidence-based perspective.

The program also focuses on Christ’s parables and miracles, while raising a timeless question that remains open: “What is truth?”
