Dimitrios Kamberos, a pioneering figure in Greek aviation, was born on the island of Hydra and earned his pilot’s license at Étampes, France, in 1911.
Renowned for his extraordinary courage and daring flying skills, Kamberos regularly pushed the limits of early aviation. His fellow pilots, astonished by the risks he was willing to take, gave him the nickname “Trelokamberos” (“Crazy Kamberos”), a term that has since become part of the Greek language to describe someone who is exceptionally daring or fearless.
