There are people who resemble mountains, with peaks and slopes, ravines and valleys, carrying both horizons of light and shadows.
There are people like seas, from open gulfs to vast oceans, with waters calm or tempestuous, their shores either close at hand or so distant they appear only after long journeys.
There are people who are like places, familiar or unknown, to which we return as pilgrims, as seekers, rediscovering them again and again. They are the roots and bearings of our ancestors, or new destinations and homelands. It is as if their first name itself means Greece – and Greece, in turn, is embodied by those few people known by their name alone, like Mikis.
On Tuesday, 02 September 2025, the program “Human Landscapes” with Viktoria Kavouriari on Voice of Greece is dedicated to Mikis Theodorakis. This year marks the centenary of the great composer’s birth, and on the very day of his passing, 02 September 2021, we hear from his grandson, Angelos Theodorakis Papangelidis, who speaks about Mikis, about Theodorakis, about his grandfather.
