Aphrodite Patoulidou on “Faraway Words” | 09 Dec. 2024, 12:00

On Monday, December 9th, 2024, the enchanting soprano Aphrodite Patoulidou, who is carving out an international career, will join Natasa Vissarionos for a conversation on “Faraway Words”. The discussion, broadcast from “Voice of Greece,” will connect Berlin, Athens, and the studio. The occasion? Her upcoming performances, starting with a concert alongside Ex Silentio at the Philological Association Parnassos on December 9th, the ERT Christmas Concert, a Valentine’s Day recital at the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera on February 12th, 2025, and various concerts across Europe (Berlin, Paris, Cologne, Manchester, Munich, Rotterdam, Porto, Helsinki, Bruges, and more).

Aphrodite Patoulidou studied vocal performance at the University of Macedonia, the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, and the Berlin University of the Arts. She was a scholarship recipient of the Onassis Foundation and the British Opera Awards Foundation. Her performances include appearances at the Berlin State Opera, La Monnaie Theater in Brussels, and the Teatro Real in Madrid. She has also graced stages such as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Gothenburg Concert Hall, and Snape Maltings in London, and has performed at festivals in Ojai (California), Oldenburg, and more.

She has collaborated with renowned conductors like Kirill Petrenko, Barbara Hannigan, and Chris Moulds, and worked with directors such as Sasha Waltz and Nicola Hübel. Her orchestral engagements include the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, the Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, and the Karajan Academy Orchestra.

Her acclaimed interpretations of roles such as Anne Trulove (The Rake’s Progress), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas), Sophie Scholl (The White Rose), the Woman (La Voix Humaine), and Lonely Child by Claude Vivier have received high praise from both domestic and international press.

In addition to her musical achievements, her poetry collection 17.5 Almost 18 won the First National Poetry Prize (H.O.N.).
