Dionisis Karatzas is VoG’s Poet of the Week


Each weekly episode is a tribute to a contemporary poet from Greece or the Greek Diaspora.

The poets recite their poems themselves, along with an original live music background.

The Poet of the Week 01.04-07.04. 2024 is Dionisis Karatzas.


Dionisis Karatzas was born in Patras. She is a member of the Society of Writers and the Greek Song Creators Association (E.D.E.T.). He was a key contributor to the Patras magazine Hydria from 1973 to 1985 and a founding member of the Organizing Committee of the Poetry Symposium until 1985. Since 1987, he has published many poetry collections. Among them are “Ximeroma sti Gi” (Dawn on earth) (Ostraka publications, Patras 1972), “Meres vrochis i ta chalasmena pechnidia” (Days of rain or broken toys) (Ostraka publications, Patras 1972), “Ap’ to nero ki ap’ tin petra” (From water and from stone) (Ostraka publications, Patras 1975), etc. He has represented our country in international poetry meetings in France, Germany, Cyprus and Greece. His poems have been translated into English, French, German, Albanian, Dutch and Italian and set to music by Mikis Theodorakis, Ilias Andriopoulos, Giorgos Andreou and others.
