Giannis Maragoudakis, President of P.O.I.A.TH, on ”Saturday Shift” | 24 Feb. 2024, 08.00

Giannis Maragkoudakis, President of the Board of Directors of the Panhellenic Offshore Sailing Club (P.O.I.A.TH.), is a guest on “Saturday Shift“, the weekend special edition of the show “Fair Winds and Following Seas” with Antonis Karagiannakis, on Saturday, February 24th, 2024, at 08.00 am (Athens time).

“The sea is for me a way of life and should be for all Greeks. The water and especially the sea has always moved and attracted me“, says Mr Maragkoudakis, who has been honored with the Academy of Athens Award 2013 and with many other distinctions for his experiences from the sea and sailing.

When you get on board, untie the lines and open up to the endless sea horizons, you are a free man! A free bird that travels through the air, the sea and the waves enjoying nature, as our ancestors enjoyed it for thousands of years“, concludes the well-known Greek sailor.

He talks to us about the actions of P.O.I.A.TH., the various sailing rallies that will take place in the Greek seas, his experiences culminating in the crossing of the Atlantic and his distinction in 2000, with the crew and the boat “Water Gipsy”.

A special radio trip on Voice of Greece about the sea, sailing, and the Aegean Sea with its islands and waters that shouldn’t be missed!

Produced and presented by Antonis Karagiannakis

Through richly drawn characters — captains, sailors, master shipwrights, village elders, pirates, saints, and folk heroines like Zantana — the book brings to life a world where history and myth converge.
