Giota Vei joins “Our Town” | 16 Mar. 2025, 12:00

On Sunday, March 16, from 12:00 to 14:00 Athens time (with a repeat broadcast on Monday, March 17, from 04:00 to 06:00), the radio show “Our Town” will host Giota Vei.

The esteemed performer of Greek folk music tradition and significant moments of Greek art song will share insights into the key milestones of her personal and artistic journey.

Dubbed “the Callas of Greek folk song” by Yannis Ritsos, Vei will bring to life memories of her childhood in Loutra Platystomou, her life in Athens, and her encounters with Melina Mercouri, Vassilis Tsitsanis, Eleni Karaindrou, Theodoros Angelopoulos, and other prominent figures.

She will reflect on her fortune in sharing the stage and the recording studio with many of the finest soloists, an experience that led to the creation of unique musical moments marked by authenticity and high aesthetic value.

The artist will also discuss her interests, her collaboration with the Third Programme, and her concerts in remarkable cities around the world.

The show will feature songs performed by Vei, spanning her rich artistic career.
