In light of the exhibition “Spotlights on Mykonos 1959-1979” by Christos Poulidis, one of Greece’s most prominent photojournalists, Gianna Triantafylli will host Giorgos Poulidis, his son and artistic producer, on Friday, September 6 at 14:00 Greek time in the studio of Voice of Greece.
Christos Poulidis, who lived in Mykonos for two decades starting in the late ’50s, became the key collaborator for major news agencies, newspapers, and magazines both in Greece and abroad. Through his lens, he captured life on the island and iconic personalities such as Princess Soraya, Grace Kelly, Konstantinos Karamanlis, Aristotle and Alexander Onassis, Maurice Bejart, Melina Mercouri, Jules Dassin, Dimitris Horn, Stavros Xarchakos, and many others who enjoyed the island’s unique hospitality. His work played a significant role in shaping Mykonos’s international reputation.
The exhibition will be hosted at the Municipal Gallery of Mykonos from September 12 to 30, 2024. It marks the first of several events honoring Poulidis’s 20-year professional journey on the island. His significant archive is currently being digitized.
