Nikos Perakis on “Our Town” (& tribute to Dinos Konomos) | 10 Nov. 2024, 12:00

On Sunday, November 10, from 12:00 to 13:00 Athens time, the show Our Town will feature the popular director Nikos Perakis.

Perakis will discuss his hometown of Alexandria, his family’s background, and how his passion for drawing and painting began in his school years. He will talk about his collaborations with leading creators, his studies in costume design and scenography, as well as his notable work in the production industry.

A special focus will be given to his involvement as a director and screenwriter in the “Cinema of the Creators” and the “New German Cinema.” The discussion will include highlights from his cinematic successes, such as Tambourlo, Bomber & Paganini, Lufa kai Parallagi, Vios kai Politia, and more. Perakis will also discuss his work on Homo Faber, where he worked on sets with the famous director Volker Schlöndorff. Music from his films will also be featured.

Tribute to Dinos Konomos

In the second hour of the show, Our Town will be dedicated to Dinos Konomos (1918-1990), a prominent figure who was awarded by the Academy of Athens. Konomos made a significant contribution to his island of Zakynthos, publishing magazines and writing books about major local events and personalities.

His vast body of work includes over 60 books and numerous other publications. Scholars such as Georgia Kokla-Papadatou, writer Dionysis Serras, and author Dionysis Mousmoutis will discuss his life and legacy. Additionally, songs referencing Zakynthos will be played.
