On Sunday, April 21st, the show “Our Town” pays a small tribute to Nikos Kavvadias.
Guest on the show was the writer and friend of the poet, Mitsos Kasolas, who recorded many of the conversations he had with the poet about the places and ports he met. Mitsos Kasolas brings to the show a part of these discussions, some of which he included in his book “Nikos Kavvadias: Woman, Life, Sea”.
In the studio, Vasilis Lekkas performs live unpublished songs based on poetry by Kavvadias and music by Charis Papadopoulos. He is accompanied on the piano by Thodoris Broutzakis.
Poems by Kavvadias are read in the show by actor Giannos Perlegkas, director Angeliki Kasola and director-performer Aristarchos Papadaniel.
There are unknown stories and facts about the poet’s life and travels, as well as his relationships with his leading Greek fellow artists
The show ”Our Town” with Themis Rodamitis attempts to establish a distinct ‘radio society’. A town within a town, occupied by intriguing personalities, cultural spaces and organizations, musicians, and theatrical groups who altogether build new social trails through culture, art, music, and poetry. It might initially sound utopic, but at the end of the day, the show simply aims to slightly enrich our lives and our everyday routine by keeping us good company.
