The acclaimed radio series “Unguarded Passage” presents a revealing audio documentary on the assassination of Grigoris Lambrakis and the shadowy operations of the deep state behind it. Drawing from documents once sealed in the files of the State Security Services and Intelligence Agencies, this broadcast brings to light evidence that remained hidden for nearly twenty-five years.
Narrating this haunting story are Grigoris Lambrakis, son of the slain left-wing MP, doctor, peace activist, and marathon runner, and journalist Christos Chalazias. Both join the program live from the studio of Voice of Greece.
Through the lens of Lambrakis’ intelligence dossier, the documentary revisits the early 1960s—a time marked by unrest, political tension, and the covert influence of the deep state. It sheds light on the web of secret funds used to finance those operating in the margins of official power. The second part focuses on the day of the assassination, uncovering efforts by authorities to tamper with the crime scene, obscuring both the physical and moral perpetrators of the political crime. The final segment brings us into the courtroom, presenting the critical revelations that surfaced during the trial, and the attempts to bring justice to a crime that stunned the nation and echoed across generations.
