The Lyceum of Greek Women of Paiania on the show “Our Town” | 29 Dec. 2024, 12:00

On Sunday, December 29, from 12:00 to 14:00 (Athens time), the program “Our Town” will feature the Lyceum of Greek Women (Paiania branch).

A two-hour festive live broadcast from the studios of Hellenic Radio for the listeners of “Voice of Greece”, including songs of the twelve-day Christmas period, carols, and other unique traditional melodies. The Lyceum of Greek Women of Paiania celebrates 40 years of creative presence, and the show will highlight its numerous and rich activities in music, education, dance, folklore research, and documentation.

The program will feature Arvanitic songs and carols performed by a choir and orchestra, including:

  • Timoleon Demos (clarinet)
  • Spyros Kontolouris (violin)
  • Panagiotis Spathakis (laouto)
  • Dimitris Raptis (laouto, vocals)
  • Fotini Pagona (vocals)
  • Nektarios Palmos (percussion)

Members of the Lyceum’s traditional singing and national dance departments will also participate.

Artistic Direction: Giannis Kontogiannis, Dimitris Raptis, Panagiotis Sdoukos

The show will include interviews with Maria Papamarkou (President of the central Lyceum of Greek Women), Katerina Apostolou (President of the Paiania branch), Dimitris Raptis, and Panagiotis Sdoukos.
