The radio series “Unguarded Passage” travels to Larissa, shedding light on unknown moments from the experiences of the staff at the Pulmonology Clinic of the city’s University Hospital during the COVID pandemic.
Professor Kostas Gourgoulianis fought a tough battle to keep the Pulmonology Clinic of the University of Thessaly standing, supported by a cohesive and effective team of doctors, medical residents, nurses, and administrative staff throughout the pandemic. With extensive academic experience, he has served as the Rector of the University of Thessaly and as President of the Hellenic Thoracic Society.
Now, five years after the pandemic began, he shares unique moments from his team’s lived experience, recalls individuals and events from his journey as a physician, and delivers his message of hope as the new year approaches. During the pandemic, he was one of the most composed scientific voices, remaining faithful to the scientific perspective of a phenomenon that, apart from its medical dimension, had multiple social implications.
