“The Wonderful Adventures of Nils Holgersson” – Part I | 11 Jan. 2025, 17:00

Back in 1983, the iconic ERT magazine Radiotileorasi (issue no. 713) announced a brand-new animated children’s series in its weekly TV schedule. This show quickly captured the imagination of kids everywhere and became a big hit in Greece right from its premiere on Thursday, October 20, 1983, at 6:05 PM on ERT.

The series was none other than the hugely popular “The Wonderful Adventures of Nils Holgersson,” a story originally written in 1907 by Swedish author and educator Selma Lagerlöf, and translated into 30 languages.

The program “Narratives – Stories and Tales for Children and Grown Ups” will bring this beloved story to life on Voice of Greece on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM. The radio adaptation is based on the edition by “Adelfoi Vlassi” publications and features the beautiful music of Czech composer Karel Svoboda.

The broadcast offers a condensed version of Selma Lagerlöf’s original book, with the text adapted by children’s author Kira Sinou specifically for this publication.

In this first part, listeners will hear the chapters “The Dwarf,” “The Geese, and “The Wild Goose Akka.”
