“Our Town” tribute to Michalis Souyioul | 22 Mar. 2026, 12:00

On Sunday, 22 March 2026, from 12:00 to 14:00 Athens time, the Voice of Greece program “Our Town”, hosted by Themis Rodamitis, presents a tribute to composer and musician Michalis Souyioul.

A leading figure of the urban popular song of the interwar period (archontorebetiko), Michalis Souyioul was widely loved and sung by the people, remaining at the forefront of artistic creation for over 30 years through his many beloved songs, as well as through his presence in major orchestras and significant collaborations on stage and in discography.

In the studio, his granddaughter, Despoina Souyioul—an accomplished author, musician, and arts educator—will share rare and personal stories about her grandfather’s daily life, his relationships with fellow artists, and his unforgettable sense of humor, along with his unassuming kindness and grace.
