Flowers are silent witnesses to sacrifice since the beginning of the world. In laments, in medieval ballads, in folk beliefs, in traditional songs, flowers are eternally born from stories of love and blood.
These and many other themes will be explored this Sunday, 8 March 2026, from 12:00 to 14:00 (Athens time), as musician Kostas Konstantatos and actress Angelina Tersenidou of the Alcedo Folk Band join Themis Rodamitis on the Voice of Greece program “Our Town” for a specialepisode, featuring distinctive songs from many regions both within and beyond Greece.
The musicians will show us that from the mimosa, the oleander, and the roses of the Middle Ages to the poppy — the symbol of World War I — always emerge where sacrifice leaves an indelible mark on memory. They can tell stories, shape us, inspire us, and lead us toward stories of our own.
