Asia Minor comes alive through its memories, music and traditions | 24 June 2026, 22:00

Loukas Christodoulou, Chairman of the Administrative Committee of the Asia Minor Cultural Center of the Municipality of Nea Ionia and President of the Union of Sparta of Asia Minor, is the guest on “Remarkable Personalities” with Stavroula Karali on Voice of Greece, on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, at 22:00 Athens time.

On the occasion of the 7th Panhellenic Gathering of Asia Minor Greeks, which will take place on Saturday, 27 June, in Nea Ionia, Attica, the program journeys to the unforgettable homelands of Asia Minor.

Together with Loukas Christodoulou, we revisit life before 1922, highlighting the culture, customs, traditions, cuisine, and music that refugees brought with them to Greece and which continue to form an integral part of Asia Minor identity.

The discussion focuses on the daily life of Greek communities in Asia Minor, their contributions to education, the arts, and commerce, as well as the resilience with which Asia Minor Greeks faced displacement and rebuilt their lives.

Particular attention is given to the vital role of Asia Minor women and to the family memories passed down from generation to generation, keeping the history of Asia Minor Hellenism alive.

The program also presents the 7th Panhellenic Gathering of Asia Minor Greeks, an event that has become an important meeting point for Asia Minor communities throughout Greece. Through music, dance, and cultural activities, the gathering celebrates memory, unity, and heritage, conveying a timeless message: homelands may have been lost geographically, but they remain alive in people’s hearts, traditions, music, and culture.
