Astrophysicist Antonis Antoniou, Professor in the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications at the University of the Peloponnese, will be the featured guest on Wednesday, 17 December 2025, at 22:00 (Athens time), on the Voice of Greece program “Remarkable Personalities”, presented by Stavroula Karali.

In a compelling exploration that bridges science and faith, the distinguished scholar revisits the enduring enigma of the Star of Bethlehem, a celestial sign that continues to inspire wonder and debate. Drawing on contemporary astrophysical research, Mr Antoniou examines the most prevalent scientific interpretations, from planetary conjunctions and supernova explosions to the passage of comets, while also reflecting on the theological significance of the Star as a symbol of divine guidance and spiritual seeking.
The discussion extends to the astronomers of antiquity, the Three Magi who followed the Star, figures revered in theological tradition as the first to venerate the Divine Infant and as enduring symbols of the universal reach of the Christian message. Mr Antoniou also offers his own personal reflection on this powerful and multilayered emblem of Christmas.
Through this dialogue, the program illuminates how a phenomenon recorded in sacred scripture can become the focus of modern scientific inquiry and theological reflection, opening new perspectives on one of the most recognisable and resonant symbols of the Christmas narrative.
