A young woman (Danae Papadaki) decides to become an egg donor. She works in a bar but dreams of becoming a ballet dancer. At the same time, she is one of many young women in Athens struggling to make ends meet. The documentary follows her throughout the entire process—from the moment she makes her decision, through the fertilization procedure, and into its aftermath. For some, it is an act of altruism; for others, an economic necessity; for her, an inner conflict.
This Saturday, 07 March 2026, at 10:00 (Athens time),“ just a few days before the film’s world premiere at the 28th Thessaloniki International Documentary Festival, where it will compete in the Newcomers Competition, the program “Ariadni’s Thread” explores the unseen dimensions of a delicate, almost unspoken subject—one that appears, at first glance, to cost nothing. Joining the discussion are the film’s director and creator of the original concept Mary Bouli, the protagonist Danae Papadaki, and editor Giorgos Tsapis.
The episode features original music by DJ ASTERIX (Asteris Samaras).
