Visual artist and jewelry designer Sofia Zarari and chocolatier Mina Apostolidi, who lives and works in Brussels, are the guests on “Remarkable Personalities” on Voice of Greece on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, with Stavroula Karali.
Two Greek women who have earned international recognition through their artistry and passion come together on ERT’s global radio service for a special program dedicated to creativity, art, and female expression.
On one side are unexpected materials—bones, animal skulls, and natural elements—transformed into works of art under the name Al Zekra, an Arabic word meaning “memory.” On the other are chocolates that go far beyond the ordinary, becoming unique gastronomic experiences through bold combinations of ingredients from the Greek land, including olive oil, figs, herbs, and aromatic plants.
The program sheds light on the personal journeys of Mina Apostolidi and Sofia Zarari, exploring the challenges they faced, the international distinctions they have received, and the stories behind two seemingly different worlds that ultimately meet through artistic creation.
Listeners will hear how Thessaloniki, the United States, Dubai, and Brussels shaped Mina Apostolidi’s path to the world of chocolate. They will also discover how Sofia Zarari transforms discarded and seemingly useless materials into contemporary visual narratives, connecting Egypt, Kasos, and Suez through her artistic vision.
The discussion also explores the history of chocolate and jewelry, tracing their evolution through time and examining their significance across different cultures and historical periods.
