On Sunday 05 April 2026, from 12:00 to 14:00 (Athens time), the Voice of Greece program “Our Town” with Themis Rodamitis welcomes leading composer Nikos Kypourgos.
In a wide-ranging conversation with Themis Rodamitis, the distinguished and gifted composer and orchestrator reflects on key milestones of his creative journey—from his early years, studies and first musical influences, to his creative relationship with Manos Hadjidakis, the landmark work of “Lillipoupoli”, and the important Song Contests of Corfu and Kalamata.
The guest in the studio will also reflect on his work for cinema and theatre, where he has collaborated with major cultural institutions, earning critical recognition and awards. He will speak about his relationship with children and music education, and discuss “Xanthi – City of Dreams”, where he serves as artistic director of the annual spring gathering of music schools.
He will also revisit his long-standing connection with the Orchestra of the Cyclades in Syros—of which he was founder, orchestrator and conductor—as well as his ERT program “The Secrets of Music”, which left a strong imprint on the field of artistic creation.
In addition, he will share thoughts on his travels, his close ties with Paris and his circle of friends there, as well as the music he listens to.
