Distinguished literary figure Philip Dracodaidis visits “Our Town” | 15 Nov. 2025, 12:00

On Saturday 15 November 2025, from 12:00 to 13:00 Athens time, the Voice of Greece programme “Our Town” with Themis Rodamitis will welcome novelist, essayist and translator Philip Dracodaidis, a distinguished figure in Greek literary and intellectual life.

Mr. Dracodaidis will reflect on the defining points of his career, the condition of the modern Greek essay, and his concerns for Greek letters — especially language, thought, and how they respond to change.

He will also talk about how phenomena such as violence and rapid transformation affect people’s capacity to absorb our evolving world, diminishing the immediacy of perception, the act of recording, and the experience of detail.

The conversation will include references to crime fiction and overtourism, his favourite cities and old neighbourhoods, the living city and its human relationships.

A programme with one of the most inquisitive writers of our time — be sure to tune in!

Produced and presented by Themis Rodamitis
Broadcast: Saturday 15 November 2025, 12:00–13:00 Athens time — with a repeat at 01:00–02:00.
