“Odyssey – The Adventure” by Maria Angelidou | 24 Jan. 2026, 17:00

The program “Narratives – Stories and Fairy Tales for All Ages” presents, on Saturday, 24 January 2026, from 17:00 to 18:00 (Athens time), the narrated presentation of the book Odyssey – The Adventure, broadcast by Voice of Greece and narrated by its award-winning author and translator, Maria Angelidou.

Published by Kalentis Publications, this elegant and user-friendly small-format edition brings to life the most beautiful adventure of all time—the Odyssey. The book inaugurates a new series for readers young and old, titled Little Epics, written by Maria Angelidou. Each volume presents a great epic in condensed form, beginning with the Odyssey, to be followed by the Iliad and the Aeneid.

The pages of the book host the Homeric rhapsodies retold in the rich, inventive, fairy-tale language of Maria Angelidou—an accomplished storyteller and award-winning writer—while Aemilia Kontaiou creates an eloquent black-and-white visual world, leaving space for the words themselves to provide color and breath.

The adventure—the “resourceful tale”—is woven anew, meant to endure forever, rekindling our bond with our Odysseus, who belongs to the whole world: the hero whose journey shaped history and gave birth to all the stories ever told.

“May this Odyssey, this resourceful story, shine here too with all the colors of a joyful homecoming. And may you, with your own colors, give it the strength to live on forever.”
(from the author’s foreword)

Produced and presented by Maria Karagiannaki Iona
