Historian and Professor at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Vasiliki Lazou—author of “Women and the 1821 Revolution: From the Ottoman World to the Free Greek State”—sheds light on both the women who stood at the forefront of history and those who remained in its shadow.

From the women of Souli and Chios to Manto Mavrogenous and Laskarina Bouboulina, the program brings forward their contribution, their sacrifices, and the personal cost of their participation in the struggle.
