Traditional Song and the Poetry of Giannis Skarimpas | 15 June 2025, 12:00

On Sunday, 15 June 2025, from 12:00 to 14:00 (Athens time), the program “Our Town”, hosted by Themis Rodamitis, presents a special episode titled “Traditional Song and the Poetry of Giannis Skarimpas”—a tribute to the lyrical world of a singular Greek poet who crafted a deeply personal and imaginative universe through his work.

Guest of the show is acclaimed singer and composer Giorgos Tzortzis, who will discuss his musical interpretations of Skarimpas’ poetry and the creative impulse that led him to blend traditional Greek ballads with the poet’s visionary voice.

Also featured is Professor Katerina Kostiou, an award-winning author and leading Skarimpas scholar, who will offer insights into the many dynamic facets of Skarimpas as both a thinker and a literary innovator.

Selected poems and prose by Skarimpas will be brought to life through readings by actors Giannis Bostatzoglou and Evdokia Statiri.

The program will also feature songs composed by Giorgos Tzortzis, set to the poetry of Giannis Skarimpas.

Produced and presented by: Themis Rodamitis

Broadcast: Sunday, 15 June 2025, 12:00–14:00 (Athens time)
