“Wander Words”: Greek Landscapes in World Literature | 24 July 2025, 13:00

On Thursday, 24 July, 2025, Voice of Greece presents the second part of the literary special of the program “Wander Words”, dedicated to Greece – past and present.

Anna Prokova selects excerpts from foreign authors whose writings on Greece could be seen as “the very opposite of a travel guide”.

From the sun-drenched, untamed landscapes of Mani as seen by Patrick Leigh Fermor, to the dark, wintry streets of 1960s Athens in Patricia Highsmith’s fiction, and the mythic labyrinths of Knossos, we move to crisis-era Exarchia, and end our journey in noir-tinged Astypalaia, through the eyes of the uncompromising traveler and writer Caryl Férey.

Produced and presented by Anna Prokova
Sound design & editing: Giorgos Giannakoulas

Broadcast: Thursday 24 July 2025, 13:00-14:00 Athens time
