“Water Myths” – Part II | 30 May 2026, 17:00

“If you want to discover how the waves were born, who the Prince of Rain is, how the Ganges River came into being, what happened to the Dragon of the Sea, and many other secrets of nature, all you have to do is travel on the imaginary wings of myths. You will find yourself in Ancient Greece and in faraway corners of the world, including Ethiopia, Lithuania, India, Peru, New Zealand, China, and Japan.”

On Saturday, 30 May 2026, from 17:00 to 18:00 Athens time, Voice of Greece’s program “Narratives – Stories and Fairy Tales for Children of All Ages,” hosted by Maria Karagiannaki-Iona, presents the second part of a collection of ten mythological stories from around the world, drawn from the book Water Myths by Konstantina Armeniakou and Efthymia Andrioti, illustrated by Renia Metallinou and published by Kalendis Editions.

Konstantina Armeniakou and Efthymia Andrioti, both educators with an active presence in children’s literature and the promotion of reading, bring together myths from diverse cultures, inviting listeners on a journey across the world through the imaginative power of storytelling. Renia Metallinou’s rich illustrations, filled with cultural details and visual references, transport readers to the unique time and place of each civilization.

Each myth represents humanity’s attempt to explain the origins of the world and interpret natural phenomena, while reflecting the beliefs, customs, and traditions of different cultures. Through these stories, children can gain a deeper appreciation of the natural environment, connect with traditions from around the globe, and recognize the universal human desire to understand the mysteries of nature and creation.

Produced and presented by Maria Karagiannaki-Iona
Broadcast: Saturday, 30 May 2026, 17:00 Athens time, on Voice of Greece.
