This Sunday, 21 December 2025, at 12:00 (Athens time), the Voice of Greece program “Our Town” with Themis Rodamitis welcomes the acclaimed vocalists Yiota Negka and Korina Legaki.
In the studio, the two guests will discuss the significance and enduring value of laïko and traditional Greek song today, as a vital and defining part of Greece’s cultural heritage.
Special reference will be made to the stage production “They Called Me Marika – They Named Me Marika“, dedicated to the two legendary Marikas of rebetiko: Marika Papagika and Marika Ninou. Two emblematic women whose life stories illuminate the eras in which Greek female performers struggled for their personal and public image, for dignity, and for self-determination.
The program will also feature the new song “The Fate That Chose Me”, with music by Giorgos Andreou and lyrics by Odysseas Ioannou, written especially for the music-theatre production.
Yiota Negka and Korina Legaki will reflect on key moments of their personal artistic journeys, accompanied by songs drawn from their work.
