Captain Dimitris Skolidis, graduate of the Academy of Merchant Marine of Aspropyrgos , speaks on “Fair Winds and Followig Seas” and the VOICE OF GREECE.
He has 20 years in the boats and as many in the offices. He first embarked in 1979 as a cadet with the 18,000-ton freighter “St. Nicholas” from Hong Kong and made trips to the Far East and South America. To these young people who start shipping today, Captain Dimitris says that “they must love the profession of seafarer very much. It requires endurance, sacrifice, dedication and continuous study, as everything evolves on ships with new systems, technologies, regulations, etc.
At the same time, today’s guest is the painter Giorgos Vouros, who talks to us about the painting exhibition with his own works entitled “Break the silence, Save the boats – Transubstantiation”, which starts on Monday, April 8th, 2024 at the Municipal Art Gallery of Piraeus.
