The role played by the Asia Minor refugees in the formation of the interwar and the first postwar folk-rebetiko song.
Guest on the show is the collector and researcher of the Greek song, Panagiotis Kounadis.
Panagiotis Kounadis graduated from the Varvakio High School (1961) and the School of Civil Engineering of the National Technical University of Athens (1967). From 1968 to 1973 he lived in Paris, where he completed his postgraduate studies at the Sorbonne Institute of Urban Planning. He also studied Social and Economic Sciences and Ethnomusicology at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (E.P.H.E.) with Francois Perroux and Claudie Marchel-Dubois, respectively. He is one of the founding members of the “Association of Friends of Greek Music” (1961-1967), and of the “Center for Research and Study of Rebetiko Songs” (1976-1983). In 1993 he founded the “Archive of Hellenic Discography” and curates the edition of a digital disc series (CDs) from the 78 rpm discography, in collaboration with MINOS EMI, EROS, MBI and FM Records.
