This week here at GME is the week of the bands of Greek underground. Indicatively, today’s list contains songs by Arnakia, Lizzards of the Royal Streets, Stigma 90, Panx Romana and Underground Trajectory, among others. Thanks to the Internet, you too can search for the bands and the songs that marked the ‘raw’ hard rock and punk colours of this fascinating palette called Greek rock. Take, for instance, Ektos Elegxou – Out of control, a truly historic and pioneering band of Greek punk that started from Thessaloniki in the mid-80s and disbanded in 2003, led by Apostolis Dadatsis. Initially, they played covers of Sex Pistols, Ramones and The Clash, and then recorded their own songs with their own, very characteristic and special sound.
